A public open house for the project and findings from the draft EA will be held at the Frisco Day Lodge April 9th, 621 Recreation Way Frisco, Colorado from 5pm to 6:30pm. The Town of Frisco Backyard Fuels and Recreation Project is an activity implementing a land management plan. This activity is subject to pre-decisional objection under subparts A and B of 36 CFR Part 218. Public comments on this project will be accepted following the publication of a legal notice in the Summit Daily, the newspaper of record, on April 4th, 2025, as described below: -Public comments onallaspects of the project will be accepted for 30 days from April 5th, 2025, to May 5th, 2025 -The proposed project includes treatment units that when combined would create openings larger than 40 acres. Forest Service policy requires that projects with openings over 40 acres include a 60-day public comment period. Therefore, public comments specific to openings greater than 40-acres will be accepted for 60 days from April 5th, 2025, to June 5th, 2025 (36 CFR 219.11(d)(4)). The Responsible Official will consider all written comments received. However, in order for your comments to be most useful and to retain your opportunity to object to the draft decision later in the process, it’s important to provide your comments within the applicable comment period and that you clearly articulate any concerns. Only individuals or entities (as defined by 36 CFR 218.2) who submit timely, specific written comments regarding any project component within 30 days (as specified in 36 CFR 218.2) or regarding openings greater than 40 acres within 60-days (as specified in 36 CFR 219.11(d)(4)), or who provided comments during the previous public scoping comment period will be eligible to file an objection. Other eligibility requirements are specified in 36 CFR 218.25(a)(3) and include, among other requirements, the commenter’s name, postal address, title of the proposed action, and signature or other verification of identity upon request and identification of the individual or entity who authored the comment(s). All written comments received by the Responsible Official, including names and addresses of commenters shall be placed in the project file and shall become a matter of public record for this proposed action. Comments submitted anonymously will be accepted and considered; however, anonymous comments will not provide the Agency with the ability to provide the commenter with subsequent environmental documents. Comments should be within the scope of the proposed action, have a direct relationship to the proposed action, and must include supporting reasons for the Responsible Official to consider (36 CFR 218.2).
