Dear Reader:
SALM BN, LLC (aka Bright Night Power) has applied for a Special Use Permit to provide the necessary land and access to construct, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission an approximately 3,000-foot-long 230kV generation-tie power transmission line originating at the Round Butte Substation on the Crooked River National Grassland seven miles west of Madras, Oregon. The generation-tie is needed to connect a proposed photovoltaic solar facility on the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Reservation to the Round Butte Substation. Additional local, state and federal permits will be acquired as needed. The total acreage the project would occupy, including the temporary construction work area, is approximately 15 acres (Figure 1).
