Please note: The scoping comment period ends on December 17, 2025, however, there will be an additional opportunity for public comment on the preliminary NEPA document during the 30-day comment period. The completion date of the preliminary NEPA document and the 30-day comment period is TBD.
The Forest Service invites the public to provide input on the proposed action for the Pikes Peak Vegetation Management & Restoration Project during the 14-day public scoping comment period. The project purpose is to restore sustainable forest conditions that are resilient to fire, insects, and diseases, while providing for diverse wildlife habitats, recreational opportunities and sustainable watershed conditions. The Forest Service is proposing a combination of vegetation treatments and prescribed fire to protect communities, watersheds, wildlife, and recreation opportunities. Treatments would occur on approximately 195,000 acres of Forest Service managed land and additional non-Forest Service land where agreements are in place. A scoping period provides those parties interested in or affected by this action an opportunity to make their concerns known and raise any substantive issues to be addressed in the environmental analysis.
To be most helpful and considered in the analysis, comments concerning this action should be submitted during the 14-day scoping period, starting December 4 2025. Comments should be received by December 17, 2025 to be fully considered in the project analysis.
Thank you for your interest and participation in the environmental analysis process on National Forest System lands.
