Why Not, Stardust Minerals Project #65128

"We have received three Plans of Operation to conduct small-scale suction dredging activities in Star Creek, and the Yaak River. The Forest Service will analyze effects to the resources in the project area.

The responsible official's decision in the Why Not Stardust Minerals Project authorizes three Plans of Operations to pan, sluice, and suction dredge in Star Creek and the Yaak River while minimizing potential related environmental impacts. The claimants have rights under the 1872 Mining Law to prospect for minerals on National Forest systems lands. Therefore, this decision responds to the rights of the operator while simultaneously ensuring other laws and regulations are met.

The reading room will be accessible only after the close of the objections period and after the objections received have been vetted for standing.
