Under Federal Register 36 CFR § 218.5, the following groups are invited to issue follow-up comments in response to the Forest’s ABC LEX Project change in actions: (1) Individuals who submitted comments during the initial comment period, (2) Federally-recognized Indian Tribes and Alaska Native Corporations. Above-mentioned parties will have 45-days to submit follow-up comments. Comments will be accepted until October 02, 2024.

Objections must include (36 CFR 218.8(d)): (1) name, address, and telephone; (2) signature or other verification of authorship; (3) identify a single lead objector when applicable; (4) project name, responsible official name and title, and name of affected national forest(s) and ranger district(s); (5) reasons for, and suggested remedies to resolve your objections; and, (6) description of connection between your objections and your prior comments. Documents may be incorporated by reference only, as provided for at 36 CFR 218.8(b).
Attachments to objections must be submitted in one of the following formats: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx), rich text format (.rtf), or Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf). If you do not have the ability to submit comments electronically, objections may be submitted by regular mail to the Francis Marion & Sumter National Forest Supervisors Office, 4931 Broad River Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29212, attention: Chris Rhem. The office business hours for submitting hand-delivered objections are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Objections submitted by regular mail must be post-marked before the close of the objection filing period to be considered timely. Hand-delivered objections must also be submitted before the close of the objection filing period to be considered timely.
The reviewing officer shall issue a written response to objectors within 45 days following the end of this objection-filling period. The reviewing officer has the discretion to extend the time to 30 days when they determine that additional time is necessary to provide adequate response to objections or to participate in resolution discussions with the objector(s).
