The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests (ASNF), Lakeside Ranger District, is preparing an environmental assessment for the Lakeside East Allotments project. The project area covers approximately 75,469 acres near the City of Show Low and Town of Pinetop-Lakeside in Arizona. The proposed action includes authorization of grazing, maintenance and installation of structural improvements for livestock management, vegetation treatments to return and maintain Juniper densities within desired condition ranges for Grasslands and Pinyon-Juniper Woodlands as detailed in the Apache-Sitgreaves Land Management Plan, and a monitoring plan to document and inform adaptive management actions. The proposed project is an activity implementing a land management plan and is subject to pre-decisional objection process at 36 CFR 218 Subparts A and B.

The comment period ends 30 days following the date of publication of this legal notice in the White Mountain Independent. Only those who submit timely and specific written comments, as outlined at §218.2, regarding the proposed project or activity during a public comment period established by the responsible official are eligible to file an objection §218.24(b)(6). Objections must be based on issues identified in previously submitted timely and specific comments attributed to the objector. For objection eligibility, each individual or representative from each entity submitting timely and specific written comments regarding the proposed project or activity must either sign the comments or verify identity upon request.
