North Pioneer Fire Salvage and Reforestation Project #50789

Salvage hazard trees and other trees, mitigate threats to resources and reforest fire impacted areas in the northern portion of the 2016 Pioneer Fire Area.

The North Pioneer Fire Salvage Project and Reforestation Project proposes to cut hazard trees along National Forest System (NFS) roads and trails and developed sites, harvest some of the dead and dying trees not identified as hazard trees to recover economic value, plant trees and seedlings, and decommission unauthorized roads in the 2016 Pioneer Fire Area.  These treatments are proposed to mitigate risks of hazard trees along roads and trails open to the public and within developed sites, reestablish forest conditions to trend toward Forest Plan desired conditions, improve watershed conditions, and recover economic value of forest products in a timely manner to avoid loss of commodity value sufficient to jeopardize the agency’s ability to accomplish project objectives.
