The Coronado National Forest, Santa Catalina Ranger District, has prepared an environmental assessment (EA), draft Decision Notice (DN) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Marshall Gulch Picnic Area and Trailhead Improvement Project. The project will reconstruct Marshall Gulch Picnic Area and Trailhead, re-align the roadway and install bridges, renovate picnic sites, and improve pedestrian pathways. The purpose of this action is to restore areas along the creeks to more natural conditions, improve vehicular circulation and parking, and provide accessible recreation opportunities. The project is located on the Santa Catalina Ranger District, Coronado National Forest, in northeast Pima County, Arizona. The site is south of the community of Summerhaven at the end of the Catalina Highway near Mt. Lemmon. The draft DN details the intended selection of the Proposed Action and provides the rationale for selecting that alternative. The EA, draft DN, and FONSI are available online at: http://www.fs.fed.us/nepa/nepa_project_exp.php?project=31879.
