The Forest Service is initiating a 10-day interested person filing period where individuals or entities with specific concerns about the White Mountain National Forest – Wilderness Standard Forest Plan Amendment: Trails Management project may file a request to be an interested person (36 CFR 219.57). Interested persons may include any party not named in the objection and who submitted substantive formal comments demonstrating their participation during the planning process (FSH 1909.12_51.65).
The publication of the legal notices in the Lewiston Sun Journal and the New Hampshire Union Leader initiated the 10-day interested person filing period and is the exclusive means for calculating the time to file as an interested person. Those legal notices were published June 25, 2026. The interested person filing period will end on July 6, 2026. If you wish to file as an interested person and have standing to do so, you must do so in writing. Submit your interested person request via the fillable objection submittal form available below. The request should include the following:
1) The interested person’s name and affiliation (if any);
2) Their mailing address, phone number, and email address (if available);
3) The name(s) of the objector(s) whose objection(s) the requester has an interest in and a brief explanation of the requester’s interest in the objection(s) and any specific concern(s), including a description of support or opposition to the objection(s); and
4) Identification of substantive formal comment provided by the requester during the planning process demonstrating the requester’s past participation in the planning process.
