The La Grande Ranger District recently completed an Environmental Assessment and draft Decision Notice for the Upper Grande Ronde River Mine Tailings Restoration project, available on the web for review: https://www.fs.usda.gov/r06/wallowa-whitman/projects/64101. The evaluated area consists of approximately 3.5 miles of streams on National Forest System (NFS) lands managed by La Grande Ranger District. The project area is approximately 20 miles southwest of La Grande, Oregon along NFS Roads 5125, 5135, and 5138.
The Responsible Official, District Ranger Kerley, has decided to select the Proposed Action which includes the most comprehensive set of actions to improve this section of the Grande Ronde River.
This project is subject to the objection process described by 36 CFR 218. Only individuals or organizations that submitted specific written comments during a designated opportunity for public participation may object (36 CFR 218.5). Written objections must meet the requirements of 36 CFR 218.8(d); incorporation of documents by reference is permitted only as described by 36 CFR 218.8(b),
