Hello,
I am proud to welcome Midas Gold Idaho into our state and proud to support the
Stibnite Gold Project. I hope you will take the time to consider my comments on
why you should move to permit the project.
Of all the options being considered by the USFS, Alternative 2 seems to me to
be the best for cleaning up Stibnite and protecting the environment for
generations to come. The other alternatives all leave significant room for
improvement. In Alternative 3, the tailings storage facility location is not as
safe as it would be placed in a pristine part of the East Fork of the South
Fork of the Salmon River while Alternative 2 keeps the facility in an area that
has already been impacted by mining. Alternative 4 would keep access roads
where they are today (right next to important waterways), while Alternative 2
moves access roads to site away from streams, creeks and rivers to reduce the
risk of spills and minimize sedimentation.
Idahoans need to see the benefits of the Stibnite Gold Project come to life.
The comment period should be kept to 60 days, so the process can continue to
move forward. It is with this knowledge that I encourage the U.S. Forest
Service to select the modified plan of restoration and operations Midas Gold
Idaho presented, known as Alternative 2 in the draft Environmental Impact
Statement, and permit the project.
Thank You,
