I support the SPECIAL RECREATION MANAGEMENT AREAS PROPOSED OPTION for the following reason: The 1964 Wilderness Act talks about summer use and not allowing non “mechanized” equipment. There is no talk about winter use. In 1964 snowmobiles were not designed for back country use. For this reason I think snowmobiles were not considered in the act. I have not seen any conflict with non motorized users in the winter months. I usually do not see any other people. I don’t think there is any evidence about disruption of wildlife in this area in the winter. There are no animals there. They all go to lower ground where the snow is not so deep for the winter months. My brother and I like to ride snowmobiles in the Great Burn area. There are no trails where we ride so sometimes you can get where you want to go and sometimes there is a change of plans!! When the snow melts in the spring all evidence of snowmobile riding is gone. I would like to see boundary adjustments to support winter use within an RWA.
