Great Burn FS Folks Please consider these comments for future decisions. ATV riding is a growing sport. Most of the members in Western Montana Trail Riders Association can't hike ten miles, thus we enjoy the great outdoors on ATVs. How many miles of ATV trails does Lolo Nat Forest have? Three per my research. FS roads (if open) make for great riding. Don't need many ATV only trails. I encourage all WMTRA folks to OPPOSE this Wilderness idea, because "Wilderness = Motorless or non motorized". Unfortunately the wilderness folks think a little noise stresses the wildlife (the opposite is true -sneaky folks walking spook them by surprise), or they just don't want to share with folks that can't hike ten miles a day. Please allow some ATV loop routes of 50 miles in the Fish Creek, HooDoo, Great burn areas. respectfully Jim Merifield WMTRA member _____ From: jwjwmer121@hotmail.com To: wmtra.mso@gmail.com CC: lah5@hotmail.com; rlamley@bresnan.net; felstet@aol.com; rogertulberg_58@msn.com Subject: FW: Will the Great Burn still be wild in 50 Years? So let show'em some votes for motorized ATVs! Attend or write. I would do some short hikes in the Rattlesnake if I could ride my ATV to the upper end of Rattlesnake. jimm _____ Subject: Will the Great Burn still be wild in 50 Years? You decide on August 4th. View this email in your browser From Fish Creek to Hoodoo Pass, the magnificent Great Burn has been recommended for Wilderness designation by the Forest Service for more than four decades. That legacy could be undone with the release of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest's proposed Forest Plan revision, which threatens to put motorized vehicles in one of our wildest places.
