To whom it may concern: I spoke to Celeste Gordon this date, who referred me to this comment site for the current plan revision. I have been hiking the trails in Madera Canyon for 3 yrs. now, and last Sunday was the FIRST time I have ever encountered horses/mules on a HIKING TRAIL !!! This is both physically dangerous and environmentally undesirable; there were approximately 5-6 horses & mules on the Super G hiking trail, and there is clearly not enough room on the trail for animals this large and hikers. In addition, the animals foul the trail, and their owners were not particularly concerned. I hope that the plan revision will bar horses or similar animals on hiking trails; there is NO reason for them to be there. If these people wanted to ride in the Canyon, there are plenty of lower trails (not hiking trails) and even trails on the other side of the mountain they can access. I repeat: this is physically dangerous; there is not enough room on these trails for large animals and hikers. While parking is not a major consideration, I will also note that these folks parked their horse/mule trailers next to the curb in the parking lot, rather than in one of the striped parking places marked out for parking. Isn't this illegal ??? Thank you. J. Hamner 433 W. Windham Green Valley, AZ.
