Ms. Boyle, I'm sure you have received many email and written messages from people expressing their opinions on the Potential Wilderness Area report for the Coronado National Forest; especially the areas on and surrounding Mt. Lemmon. I'd like to throw my vote into the mix also as it regards mountain biking. I suppose I could write scathing comments or eloquent prose, but I won't - one is too wordy, the other to hard to read! That said, I would like to say that Mountain Biking is a popular sport in the Tucson area and Mt. Lemmon is a great place to ride. Trail bikes don't fit into the "allowed in the wilderness" scheme but I think they should continue to have a right to ride on Mt. Lemmon. Where else would we ride in the summer so close to Tucson? As far as impact goes, bikes have about the same as hikers, and a little less than horses. Speaking of the other user groups, I would like to suggest that if it does become part of the wilderness plan - could there not be exceptions added for existing trails and user groups? Bug Springs, Green Mountain and other trails on the mountain are constantly being ridden and maintained by bikers, so why not give all non-motorized use a hall pass for this exceptional area? Write it in to prevent the addition/construction of new trails and preserve access to existing. That would be a compromise I can see working out in everyone's favor. Thanks for listening!
