FSM 2355 Climbing Opportunities
The Forest Service, United States Department of Agriculture (Forest Service or Agency), is proposing to revise its directives to provide guidance on climbing opportunities on National Forest System (NFS) lands, including guidance required by Section 122 of the EXPLORE Act for climbing in congressionally designated wilderness (wilderness). The directive would implement that requirement and also provides guidance for climbing management on non-wilderness National Forest System lands pursuant to the Secretary’s general land management authorities.
Please see the attached documents for the full language of the proposed directive.
