Brian Head Resort is proposing terrain and ski area improvements within and adjacent to their current special use permit (SUP) on the Dixie National Forest. The plan includes adding an additional 1,651 acres to their Special Use Permit boundary.

The Forest Service values public participation.

This project is subject to pre-decisional objection under subparts A and B of 36 CFR Part 218. The proposed Forest Plan amendments are subject to objection pursuant to subparts A and B of 36 CFR Part 219. Only individuals and entities (as defined by 36 CFR 218.2 and 219.53(a)) who submit timely and specific written comments about the proposed project during this or other public comment periods established by the Responsible Official will be eligible to file an objection. Comments must be postmarked or received within 90 days of the publication of the Notice of Availability of the draft EIS in the Federal Register. Comments should be within the scope of the proposed action, have a direct relationship with the proposed action, and must include supporting reasons for the Responsible Official to consider (36 CFR 218.2). Other eligibility requirements are specified in 36 CFR 218.25(a)(3) and 36 CFR 219.54(c) and include name, address, title of the project, and signature or other verification of identity upon request and identification of the individual or entity who authored the comment. Comments, including names of those who comment, received in response to this request will be considered part of the public record and will be available for public inspection. Comments submitted anonymously will be accepted and considered; however, anonymous comments will not provide the agency with the ability to provide the respondent with subsequent environmental documents or standing for administrative review.

This project initiated public comment after the publication of the proposed amendment to the regulations at 36 CFR 218 in the Federal Register on February 6, 2026 (91 FR 5387). This project and the associated EA, FONSI and ROD may be subject to the revised administrative review process if the final 36 CFR 218 rule is published before the project’s objection period is initiated. Otherwise, this project will follow the administrative review process established prior to the proposed rule. 
 
Comments will be accepted for 90 days from the date of publication of the NOA in the Federal Register, published on Friday July 31, 2026.
