The Manti-La Sal National Forest, Moab/Monticello Ranger District's Cultural Site Visitor Management Environmental Assessment and draft Decision Notice are available for review. The proposed action would authorize cultural site management at four separate sites. The project is within San Juan County, Utah, located within the Bears Ears National Monument.
Analysis has been completed, and the Cultural Site Visitor Management Project is now subject to pre-decisional administrative review, a requirement of 36 CFR 218 subparts A and B. The minimum requirements of an objection, described at 36 CFR 218.8(d), include a description of those aspects of the proposed project addressed by the objection, including specific issues related to the proposed project; if applicable, how the objector believes the environmental analysis or draft decision specifically violates law, regulation, or policy; suggested remedies that would resolve the objection; supporting reasons for the reviewing officer to consider. Issues raised in objections must be based on previously submitted specific written comments regarding the proposed project or activity unless the issue is based on new information that arose after the opportunities for comment. The burden is on the objector to demonstrate compliance with this requirement for objection issues. Names and contact information submitted with comments will become part of the public record and may be released under the Freedom of Information Act.
Objections must be submitted within 45 days following the publication of the legal notice in the San Juan Record. The date of this legal notice is the exclusive means for calculating the time to file an objection. Those wishing to object should not rely upon dates or timeframes provided by any other source. It is the objector's responsibility to ensure evidence of timely receipt (36 CFR 218.9).
