Pass Creek Water Development Project

The Cedar City Ranger District of the Dixie National Forest is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for the Pass Creek Water Development Project. The proposed project area is located at the headwaters of Pass Creek approximately 1.5 miles due east of Panguitch Lake in Garfield County Utah. There is a need to increase water availability and distribution in the East and West Pass Creek pastures of the Panguitch Lake allotment. The proposed action is to drill a well to provide water for livestock and wildlife in the area.

How to Comment and Timeframe: It is the responsibility of persons providing comments to submit them by the close of the comment period. Only those who submit timely and specific written comments regarding the proposed project during a comment period established by the responsible official are eligible to file an objection. Individuals and organizations wishing to be eligible to object must meet the information requirements of 36 CFR subparts A and B. Written facsimile and electronic comments concerning this actin will be accepted for 30 calendar days following the publication of the legal notice for this proposed project in The Spectrum (the newspaper of record). The publication date in the newspaper of record is the exclusive means for calculating the comment period for this analysis. Those wishing to comment should not rely upon dates or timeframe information provided by any other source. Regulations prohibit extending the length of the comment period.

Due to the COVID – 19 pandemic if you wish to provide hand delivered comments during the comment period please contact NEPA Planner Jennifer Green at 435-865-3729 to make arrangements. The project website located at: https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=57205 has a comment portal which is the preferred method for submitting comments. You may also email them to Jennifer.e.green@usda.gov within the 30-day comment period. Electronic comments must be submitted in a format such as an email message plain text (.txt) rich text format (.rft) or Word (.doc or docx) and include the project title “Pass Creek” in the subject line.
For objection eligibility each individual or representative from each entity submitting timely and specific written comments must either sign the comments or include your name and contact information in your submittal. If using an electronic message a scanned signature is one way to provide verification.
