Whitney Area Stock Ponds Project
The public is invited to comment on the proposed action and draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for a proposal to improve water distribution to increase efficiency of current livestock management practices on the Gold Hill and Meadow Creek allotments in the Whitney Area of the Evanston Mountain-View Ranger District, Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The proposed action is to construct 17-ponds to improve livestock utilization and distribution on the allotments. The project notice and comment period on the draft EA are being held concurrently. The legal location is: T1N, R9E, Sections 4,12,15,15 and 23 in Summit County, UT.

The comment period provides an opportunity for the public to provide meaningful participation on a proposed action prior to a decision being made by the Responsible Official. This action is subject to the predecisional administrative review process outlined in Title 36 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 218, Subparts A and B. A final decision will not be made until after the requirements of 36 CFR 218.12, Timing of Project Decision, have been met.
How to Comment
Each individual or representative from each organization submitting comments must either sign the comments or otherwise verify identity in order to attain appeal authority. Comments received in response to this solicitation, including names and addresses of those who comment, will be considered part of the public record for this project. Comments should be as specific as possible and have direct relationships to the proposal. Anyone providing comments or otherwise expressing interest in the proposed action by the close of the comment period specified in 36 CFR 218 Subparts A and B.
The 30-day request for comment period begins with publication of this legal notice in the Uinta County Herald, the newspaper of record. Written, facsimile, hand- delivered, and electronic comments must be received or postmarked by the end of the 30-day period. The publication date in the newspaper of record is the exclusive means for calculating the comment period, with the day after publication serving as day one.
