As the Responsible Official, Acting Forest Supervisor Rick Hopson has prepared a draft Decision Notice/Finding of No Significant Impact (DN/FONSI) selecting the Proposed Action Alternative from the draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the North Fork Forest Recovery Project. This alternative will reduce wildfire threats around communities and infrastructure; protect, manage, and interpret cultural resources; improve safety for the public and forest workers; restore, improve, and maintain forest resource conditions; control non-native invasive species and re-establish native plant species; restore the landscape around recreational features to improve forest and watershed resources; improve and maintain National Forest System roads to protect and restore watershed health; restore and protect habitat for wildlife and plant species; and improve meadows and streams to protect and restore watershed health. Proposed treatment methods include manual and mechanical vegetation removal, prescribed fire, herbicide application, and reforestation.
The North Fork Forest Recovery Project is located on the Plumas National Forest, within portions of the Mt. Hough Ranger District.
