The Lake of the Woods Resort Expansion Project is located on the Klamath Ranger District approximately 35 miles northwest of the city of Klamath Falls in section 34 of T36S, R05E; and sections 2,3,4,10 and 11 of T37S, R05E, W.M., Klamath County, Oregon. This project proposes to install up to 10 additional cabins in existing RV sites in the RV cabin area and provide septic hookups to 10 existing RV sites; add a third lane (paved) to Forest Service Road 3704-110; reopen the east end of the Forest Service Road 3704-112; develop 20 designated day-use parking spaces at the Resort/Marina (gravel and striped); develop 80 designated day-use parking spaces at Rainbow Bay Day Use Area (paved and striped); expand and reconstruct the existing floating docks and develop 10 additional buoys/slips/side tie ups; upgrade the septic collection and treatment system for the existing RV sites at the Resort; replace, remodel, and expand the existing Marina building including the maintenance structure, bathrooms, office space and cold storage for the retail area; re-open the campground to the east of the Work Center to provide 10 RV sites with full hookups for staff housing.
The EA, FONSI/DN are subject to objection pursuant to 36 CFR 218, Subpart A. Objection to these documents must be in writing and must be fully consistent with 36 CFR 218.7. Objections will only be accepted from those who have previously submitted written comments on this project. The publication date of this legal notice is the exclusive means for calculating the time to file an objection and those wishing to object should not rely upon dates or timeframe information provided by any other source. The objector must provide sufficient narrative description of those aspects of this proposed project addressed by the objection, specific issues, and suggested remedies to resolve the objection. At a minimum the objection must include the objector’s name and address, with telephone number if available, a signature or other verification of authorship, identification of a lead objector if multiple names are listed on the objection, and the name of the project being objected to, the name and title of the responsible official, and the Forest and Ranger District on which the project will be implemented.
The Regional Forester will serve as the Objection Reviewing Officer (36 CFR 218.3). We strongly encourage you to submit objections electronically. Note that once-monthly updates to the system, usually occurring on Fridays, can briefly interfere with the public’s ability to upload objections. Electronic objections must be submitted as part of an actual e-mail message, or as an attachment in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx), rich text format (.rtf), or portable document format (.pdf) only. For electronically mailed objections, the sender should receive an automated electronic acknowledgement from the agency as confirmation of receipt. If the sender does not receive an automated acknowledgement of receipt of the objection, it is the sender’s responsibility to ensure timely receipt by other means.
