Commenting on This Project

Announcements from Responsible Official, Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor Jason Kuiken:

Three decisions, authorizing or identifying my intent to authorize different subsets of the actions proposed in Alternative 1 (Preferred Alternative) of the SERAL Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) have been prepared, but the status of each decision varies.  The following three announcements provide updates pertaining to each decision.

First Announcement: On March 28, 2022, I signed the first of three Record of Decisions for the Social and Ecological Resilience Across the Landscape (SERAL) project (titled: Strategically Placed Fuelbreaks - A Crucial First Step: Record of Decision, ROD-1). This decision authorizes the fuel reduction treatments in the highest priority potential operational wildland fire delineation units (PODs 1 - 5).

Second Announcement: On June 29, 2022, I signed the second of three Record of Decisions for the SERAL project titled:  A Significant Step Toward Resiliency - Record of Decision (ROD-2).

Third Announcement: On March 29, 2022, I released a third Record of Decision - titled, Rapidly Responding to Changing Environmental Conditions - Draft Record of Decision, ROD-3. A legal notice advertising an opportunity to object to this draft decision was published in the newspaper of record, the Union Democrat, on March 29, 2022.  This decision is currently undergoing Administrative Review.
