Legal Notice for EA Objection Filing
Pumice Vegetation Management Project
The draft decision notice and finding of no significant impact (DN/FONSI) and environmental assessment (EA) for the Pumice Vegetation Management Project are now available for public review. The project is intended to restore fire as an ecosystem process and reduce the risk of undesired wildfire effects to important resources; reduce stand densities to productive and sustainable levels; increase the number of young, healthy ponderosa pine thereby encouraging vegetation species and stand structure diversity; improve stand resilience to wildfire, insects, and disease; provide economic benefits to the local communities; and provide opportunities for public firewood cutting. This project area encompasses 9,310 acres and is located on the Goosenest Ranger District of the Klamath National Forest approximately 6 miles east of Tennant, California in Siskiyou County: Township (T) 43 North (N), Range (R) 1 East (E), Sections 12 – 13 and 24; T43N, R2E, Sections 2 – 11, 14 – 21, and 29 – 30; T44N, R2E, Sections 32 – 33, Mount Diablo Meridian. The draft DN/FONSI and EA and supporting documents are available on the Klamath National Forest’s project webpage at: https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=30290.
