Objection Period Notice National Recreation Trails and Timber Management Amendment Proposal Mark Twain National Forest Phelps County, Missouri The Mark Twain National Forest has the final Environmental Assessment (EA) and draft decision available for the 2005 Forest Plan Amendment: National Recreation Trails and Timber Management. The purpose of this Plan amendment is to remove two standards impeding logging near National Recreation Trails (NRTs) and add one standard to limit logging activities along NRTs unless needed to meet specific objectives. This constitutes a notice of opportunity to object on the National Recreation Trails and Timber Management proposal per Forest Service administrative review procedures at 36 CFR § 218.22 (for environmental assessments) and 36 CFR § 219 Subpart B (for Forest Plan amendments). The opportunity to object ends 45 days following the publication date of this legal notice in the Phelps County Focus (newspaper of record). This publication date is the sole means for calculating the time to file an objection, and those wishing to object should not rely upon dates or timeframe information provided by another source. Objections will only be accepted from those individuals who have previously submitted specific written comments regarding this proposal, unless based on new information arising after designated comment opportunities (218.8(c)). The objection must contain the minimum content requirements specified in 218.8(d) and incorporation of documents by reference is permitted only as provided in 218.8(b). It is the objector’s responsibility to ensure timely filing of a written objection with the reviewing officer. All public objections, including names and addresses of those who comment, will become part of the public record for this proposal and will be subject to review pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act.
