The USDA Forest Service is proposing a project to implement approximately 2,617 acres of vegetation management activities on NFS lands. Vegetation planned for treatment is predominantly composed of Engelmann spruce and sub-alpine fir. PALS #68876
The USDA Forest Service has prepared an environmental assessment (EA) and draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Twin Peaks Project. The proposed action is located on the Aspen/Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest, in the vicinity of Twin Peaks and along NFSR 300.3 (Fourmile Park Road) approximately 16 miles south of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The Responsible Official for this decision is Jennifer Shuller, Acting Aspen/Sopris District Ranger.
The Responsible Official is planning to implement the Proposed Action which authorizes approximately 2,617 acres of vegetation management and other associated activities including road maintenance, tree planting, creation of fuel break along NFSR 300.3 and NFSR 801.1; and, moving a seasonal closure gate to a safer location on NFSR 300.3. The EA and draft FONSI for the proposed Twin Peaks Project is available for review upon request at the Aspen/Sopris Ranger District office, 50 Weant Blvd, Unit A, Carbondale, CO 81623.
