Commenting on This Project

Commenting on This Project

The Forest Service values public participation. It is important that reviewers provide their comments at such times and in such a way that they are useful to the Agency’s preparation of the supplemental environmental impact statement (SEIS). All comments will be accepted, but those focused on the new information within the draft SEIS will be the most helpful at this time. Comments made on the 2011 final environmental impact statement do not need to be re-submitted because they are still within this project’s record and will still be considered. Comments should be provided prior to the close of the comment period and should clearly articulate the reviewer’s concerns and contentions.

Comments received in response to this solicitation, including names and addresses of those who comment, will be part of the public record for this proposed action. Comments, including anonymous comments, will be accepted at any time. However, the Forest Service may be unable to give full consideration to comments posted after the close of the designated comment period.

The opportunity to comment on this draft supplemental environmental impact statement ends 45 days following the date of publication of the Notice of Availability (NOA) in the Federal Register (see § 218.25(a)(2)), which can be found on the Interagency Wildland Fire Chemicals Policy and Guidance website. The date of publication of the NOA in the Federal Register is the exclusive means for calculating the comment period ending date.

The 2011 Nationwide Aerial Application of Fire Retardant Final Environmental Impact Statement and Record of Decision are available for information and reference purposes on the Interagency Wildland Fire Chemicals Policy and Guidance website.
