Forest-wide Prescribed Fire Project #57860

Commenting on This Project

Opportunity to Object on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest Forestwide Prescribed Fire Restoration Project
The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest has completed the final environmental assessment, finding of no significant impact, and draft decision notice for the Forestwide Prescribed Fire Restoration Project. The proposed action would authorize prescribed burning where it is needed to restore fire-dependent ecosystems on national forest lands in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forests. This decision would allow us to increase the scope and scale of our fuel treatment program to potentially 30,000 acres per year across the Forest, over the next 15 to 20 years. The treatment methods included in the selected action are hand thinning, piling, mastication, chipping, and prescribed fire. Activities would be conducted within established guidelines, law, regulation, and policy. The proposal excludes lands within Congressionally Designated Wilderness and Research Natural Areas.
The responsible official for this project is Jon Stansfield, Forest Supervisor. The Final Environmental Assessment and supporting documents are available on-line at:
