The Tusayan Ranger District has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and draft Decision Notice (DN) for the proposed remodel and expansion of Ten X Campground. The draft DN details the intended selection of the proposed action and the rationale for selecting that alternative. The final EA FONSI and draft DN are available on-line at https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=55626. CD or hard copy formats of the documents and any additional information needed can be obtained from Victoria Tyler NEPA Planner and (928) 635-5600. The Responsible Official for the project is Debra Mollet Williams and Tusayan District Ranger Kaibab National Forest.
The Ten X Campground project is an activity implementing a land management plan and not authorized under the HFRA and is subject to the objection process pursuant to 36 CFR 218 subparts A and B. Only those who submitted timely specific written comments during a scoping period or other designated comment period are eligible to object unless new information has arisen following those periods. Issues raised in objections must be based on previously submitted comments or new information arising after the designated comment opportunities.
Objections including attachments must be submitted in writing and can be emailed in an email message plain text (.txt) rich text (.rtf) portable document format (.pdf) or Word document (.doc) format to mail to: Objections-southwestern-kaibab@fs.fed.us with the subject title of “Ten X Campground Expansion Project”; faxed to (928) 635-5632; or hand delivered Monday – Friday from 8:00a.m.-4:30p.m. (excluding holidays) or mailed to Heather Provencio Forest Supervisor 800 South 6th Street Williams AZ 86046.
Objections must be submitted within 45 calendar days following the publication of notice in the Arizona Daily Sun. The publication date in the newspaper of record is the exclusive means for calculating the time to file an objection. Those wishing to object should not rely upon dates or timeframe information provided by another other source. The regulations prohibit extending the time to file an objection.
At a minimum an objection must include the following (36 CFR 218.8(d)):
All objections are available for public inspection during and after the objection process and names and contact information submitted will become part of the public record. Responses to objections will be in writing within 45 calendar days beginning after the last day of the objection period. This period can be extended by the reviewing officer another 30 days if necessary to provide adequate responses to objections or participate in resolution discussions.
