The U.S. Forest Service Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland has prepared a final environmental impact statement and a draft record of decision for the Thunder Basin National Grassland 2020 Plan Amendment.
A notice of availability for the final environmental impact statement and draft record of decision was published in the Federal Register on May 15 2020. A legal notice announcing the start of the objection filing period was published in the Laramie Boomerang the newspaper of record on the same day initiating a 60-day period during which individuals or entities with specific concerns may file an objection for Forest Service review.
The objection process provides an opportunity for members of the public who have participated in the planning process for the Thunder Basin National Grassland to have any unresolved concerns reviewed by the Forest Service prior to a final decision by the Responsible Official. Only those who provided substantive formal comments during opportunities for public comment during the planning process are eligible to file an objection. Comments are considered substantive formal comments when they are within the scope of the proposal are specific to the proposal have a direct relationship to the proposal and include supporting reasons for the Responsible Official to consider. Objections must be based on previously submitted substantive formal comments attributed to the objector unless the objection concerns an issue that arose after the opportunities for formal comment.
Objections received in response to the notice including names and addresses of those who object will be considered part of the public record and will be available for public inspection.
